We’re finally offering what everyone’s been waiting for—the needle in the haystack kind of mare. Cupcake is that horse that turns heads wherever she goes and has had more than a few people try to buy her over the years. Until now, she’s been completely off limits. She’s not just another auction listing or quick resale horse. Cupcake has been one of our personal horses for the past several years—a member of our family.
The only reason she’s available is because I’ve decided to take my roping in a new direction—and I can’t justify keeping a mare of this caliber in the pasture just for the occasional ride. Otherwise, there’s no doubt in my mind—she would never leave.
Cupcake (AQHA grey mare RR FOXY LADY BUENO) is 9 years old, stands 14.3hh, and is built like a brick house—correct conformation, strong bone, and a powerful, athletic frame. Her stunning dapple grey color is just the icing on the cake. Combine that with her bloodlines, ability, brains, and heart—and you’ve got a once-in-a-lifetime kind of horse.
Cupcake is sweet, gentle and calm —always the first to the gate, looking for attention and affection. She truly enjoys people and has one of the kindest, most gentle dispositions of any mare we’ve owned.
She’s finished and solid on both the head and heel side, with over $15,000 in earnings in the last year alone, and that’s with limited hauling. She’s quick across the line, rates well, and has a nice move in the corner. She scores quietly and stays calm whether she’s heading or heeling. Ready for USTRC, WSTR, jackpots—you name it. She’s competitive, dependable, and absolutely eye-catching in the arena.
But she’s not just a rope horse. Cupcake has been one of my personal trail mounts—she’s been overnight trail ride camping at Buffalo River, and handles tough terrain with confidence. I rode her while pregnant, and she’s carried our kids safely on trails. She’s as steady and trustworthy as they come.
Under saddle, Cupcake is amazing. Responsive and fun, with an easy handle and buttons—she neck reins, slow spins, moves off your legs with ease, and has a beautiful stop and back-up. Her gaits are smooth as glass—her trot is the most comfortable I’ve ever ridden, She’s got speed when you ask for it, but is happy to cruise along relaxed and collected at the lope as well.
She’s also been started in breakaway and bulldogging, adding to her already impressive resume.
Cupcake has excellent ground manners—she’s easy to catch, groom, bathe, stands for the farrier, hauls and stalls with zero fuss. She’s clean-legged and 100% sound in every way.
